Harun Farocki was one of the best politically engaged film makers of the century and his publications helped me enormously in my dissertation project in France, so it gives me great sorrow to see him go. So, why not give him a small retrospective of sorts in my blog, even though I hadn't written here in ages. Rest in peace Farocki, you will be missed...

Insidious, a.k.a. the movie that scared the crap out of me. Normally, I don't get scared of horror movies, at best I got a bit tense, but this movie really knocked me out. I don't know if it's from the fact that I watched it alone at night or what. But the main deal for me was that the story was quite convincing (if you consider astral projection convincing, I do!). As I believe in astral projection, the movie made me say "why not", then the story deals with sleep and what you do after watching a movie at night, sleep! See what I mean?
Insidious, a.k.a hayatta en tırstığım film.
I spent the whole night with insidious entities coming and going, all the dreams passed while I'm in bed and they were so realistic with my actual clothes, actual bedding etc. I can easily say that I spent the worst night ever! But now that I know the second movie is in order, will I go? Oh yes, absolutely! In fact, every horror enthusiast have a masochistic part inside, we love to get afraid, get tense, get creeped out. And I am no exception.
Bütün gece ruhlar geldi, bir de hepsi ben yatakta yatarken gerçekleşiyor rüyaların, üstüme giydiğim şeyler, yorgan morgan hepsi aynı, öyle sahici ki. Hayatımın en berbat gecesini geçirtti film bana. Ha, ama ikincisi çekiliyor, gidecek miyim? Of cors beybi, hayatta kaçırmam.
Why you may say, maybe it's to come out of my daily life, maybe to add a few adrenalin-filled hours to my life, I don't know really but I do like horror films more than I need to. In fact, the movie is a modern haunting/demon possession story, and has a bit of Exorcist and a bit of Poltergeist in it. It's well-paced, cleverly built and just beautiful to watch alongside being scary. I think this-one really shines among the not-so-bright horror films that imitates one another. Insidious is from the creators of Saw and Paranormal Activity which are both good franchises. I especially love the Paranormal Activity series, although the last one was a bit disappointing. It did a job many tried to imitate and has a very intriguing story alongside the creeping/scaring effects and stuff.
Insidious has a similar effect. The story starts with a family whose little son got into a coma. They soon learn that the boy got stuck in an astral universe and there are entities who try to capture his body. The thrill heightens with the dad's decision to go after his son. And the actual success of the film comes from the astral universe it creates with entities (some harmless, some "Insidious"-ones), the lighting and music got you immediately in the mood to get scared.

If you don't believe me see it for yourself!/ Eğer inanmıyorsanız kendiniz izleyip karar verin!
I barely shook the shock of the first movie, when I saw the photos of the sequel. Scenarist Leight Whannell posted it on twitter and it sure seems interesting, though we don't yet know the story. What we know is there will be more entities and that the film is shot in the haunted house that Spider Baby was shot. I guess we'll see a "Insidious 10" soon, but watch it while they are still good. Oh, and the movie will be released on 30th August.

I screamed in this scene, and oh how aloud did I scream!

L'Ecume des Jours- Gondry's new film
Michel Gondry stole my heart with Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, deepened our love story with Science of Sleep, made me laugh my ass out with Be Kind, Rewind, but then he made an awful mistake with Green Hornet and our love was over. His new movie though, Mood Indigo (L'Ecume des Jours) seems to rekindle our strong feelings for each other (I know you love me too chouchou!)
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind'la kalbimi çalan, The Science of Sleep'le kendisine sevgimin kat be kat arttığı, Be Kind Rewind'la eğlendiğim, ama sonra n'olduysa Green Hornet'la dibe vuran Michel'ciğim Gondry'ciğim yeni filmiyle kendini toparlamış gibi gözüküyor.
The movie is an adaptation of Froth on the Daydream (L'Ecume des Jours in French) from my most beloved author Boris Vian and it stars the 2 best looking Frenchies on earth Audrey Tatou (Amélie <3) and Romain Duris (who played the boyfriend of Tatou in Russian Dolls -Les Poupées Russes). The trailer is beyond belief and I cannot wait to see the movie. It seems like we'll be seeing the stop-motion/digital effect world of magic that Gondry masterfully created in Eternal Sunshine and Science of Sleep!
The film will be released in April 21 in Europe and in the U.S.A.

The Dark Knight Fails/ Kara Şövalye Batıyor
More like a bore will rise!
I've never been a Batman fan myself, because let's face it, Bruce Wayne is just a rich guy with a lot of toys and no one to play with and it seems to me that he's just a tad too ambitious to wear latex and cape. But the Batman cartoon series and Tim Burton movies made me watch it until now. But with "The Dark Knight Rises", I think I also put an end to the Batman franchise all together.
Other than being 3 hours long with no really storyline, this Batman lacks some qualities that are a must in any good super hero movies:
Filmin üç saatçik olması ve hikayesinin pek de tatmin edici olmamasının yanı sıra, bu Batmancik çekilirken her iyi süper kahraman filminde olması gereken bir kaç küçük özelliği atlanmış maalesef:
Boo, I'm so scared!/ Aman çok korktum!
2. Tim Burton's Batman movies all had an original style and a beautifully created Gotham City. Now we have.... a city that looks exactly like NY. No originality, no nothing.
2. Tim Burton'un Batman'lerinin her şeyden önce kendine has bir tarzı ve iyi yaratılmış bir Gotham Şehri vardı, şimdi ise, aşağı yukarı New York'un tıpkısının aynısı bir şehirle karşı karşıyayız. Eğer Bob Kane Batman'in New York'ta olmasını isteseydi, zaten New York derdi değil mi Nolan'cığım?
She looks good in pearls/ İnciler de yakışmış
3. Umm, where did you hid the action Nolan babe? Other than some lame fist fight (Batman fist fights, yeah right!), in the first, let's say two hours, there is no action to be seen and the rest is not much better either. At least, he could put some sexy sizzling action scene between Wayne and Cat.
4. I appreciate Nolan's try to create a more human Batman to look behind the legend, but the scenes that are supposed to be emotional are deprived of real emotion what-so-ever and are just plain boring.
5. Why the hell the nice people of Gotham also follows a masked maniac with an atomic bomb? How can they really believe that he won't fry them with some nuclear love in the near future?
5. Film bence herşeyden önce inandırıcı değildi. Neden Gotham'ın iyi vatandaşları birden elinde atom bombası olan maskeli bir manyağı takip etmeye başlıyorlar? Hiç akıllarına o bombayı patlatabileceği gelmiyor mu acaba?
6. An atomic bomb falls fifty feet from the city, maybe the water is a bit destroyed, but the city is fine. Really honey? Do you mean to say that 3 generations in Hiroshima just had a very nasty skin condition and a nuclear bomb of 9 m. radius doesn't destroy the city? A very interesting and realistic ending Nolan love, kudos.
7. Batman's suit is just plain ugly. Why the hell does he wear a velvet cape that is longer than Kate Middleton's wedding dress' tail? Does.... Nolan tries to tell us that there is something more special going on between Batman and Robin? For all I know, Robin's admiration for Batman is a bit much to be brotherly love.
7. Batman'in kostümü çok çirkin. Yoksa... Nolan bize Batman'le Robin'in arasında bildiğimizden fazla bir şeyler olduğunu mu iddia ediyor? Neden olmasın, Robin'in Batman sevgisi biraz aşırı zaten....
He is just butch enough to be gay if you ask me, and all the ladies! I should have guessed sooner.

Dark Shadows!
Ok, so Tim Burton's 'Dark Shadows' may have nothing to do with the original t.v. series (I mean nothing at all), but at least it seems funny. I'm interested to see the Burton twist of it so to say, but until May we need to settle for the trailer. In the meantime, if you wonder about the original series, here is the post I made a while ago about it.

1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die
I have a lot of free time on my hands, so I calculated how many of the '1001 movies' I watched until now, you know, you never know I can drop dead tomorrow... I plan on doing these 1001 movies for a while for 'Cinema Mondays'. But first, let's see what films I did watch, the number is 254, we'll see how much more I can watch by the end of the year...
From the 1910-1920, we have Griffith's still discussed masterpieces The Birth of a Nation and Intolerance and the film of criminals known as "vampires" Les Vampires/Vampires in the list. This decade was the true birth of cinema, because the last decade was more on experimenting with the camera and finding new technology and this decade created a film language and produced films still enjoyable today.
1910-1920 yılları Griffith'in hala çok tartışılan şaheserleri The Birth of a Nation/Bir Ulusun Doğuşu ve Intolerance/Hoşgörüsüzlük ve vampirler olarak bilinen bir suç grubunun filmi Les Vampires/Vampirler var. Bu on yıla gerçek anlamda sinemanın doğuşu diyebiliriz, zira bir önceki on yıl, daha çok kamerayı ve yeni teknikleri keşfetmeye odaklanmışken, bu on yılda, sinema dilinin oluştuğunu ve bu gün bile izlenebilen filmlerin ortaya çıktığını görüyoruz.
This decade witnessed the birth of Soviet Cinema and the art-house of today and also started the Hitchcock era that will become a true sensation through the world. The first documentaries The Man With the Movie Camera and Nanook of the North, alongside with the stunning performance of Maria Falconetti in La Passion de Jeanne D'Arc/The Passion of Joan of Arc, Luis Bunuel's Un Chien Andalou/ An Andalusian Dog with the eye cutting scene that is identified with the cinema itself today are the highlights of the decade. Another dominant style of the era is the German Expressionism with Das Cabinet des Dr. Caligari/ The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari and the first vampire movie Nosferatu. Also, you can name Alfred Hitchcocks semi-talkie (the film has sound in only half of it, the other half is silent!) Blackmail.
30's are very important for the history of cinema both because of the transition of talkies and the arrival of first color movies. The most important art movies of the decade are Luis Bunuel's Age D'Or/ The Golden Age, the most important film of French Impressionism Partie de Campagne/ A Day in the Country and the controversial Nazi propaganda film of Leni Riefenstahl Triumph des Willens/ Triumph of the Will. This decade is also important for the most genuis comedian Charlie Chaplins' movies City Lights and Modern Times, the creator of suspense genre, alongside with Hitchcock, Fritz Lang's M, one of the first Disney movies Snow White and most beloved classics The Wizard of Oz and Gone with the Wind.
1940'lı yılların en önemli filmleri sinema dahisi Orson Welles'in Citizen Kane/Yurttaş Kane'i, bunun yanında Rossellini'nin Roma, Citta Aperta/ Roma, Açık Şehir'i ve Kurosawa'nın Rashomon'u var. Dönemin unutlumaz klasikleri Gilda, Casablanca, The Postman Always Rings Twice/Postacı Kapıyı İki Kere Çalar ve It's A Wonderful Life/Şahane Hayat. Hitchcock'un Rebecca'sının yanı sıra, bu on yıl aynı zamanda Double Indemnity/Çifte Tazminat ile film noir'ın da başlangıcına tanıklık ediyor. Bunun dışında bu on yıla ait izlediğim filmler; Beauty and the Beast/ Güzel ve Çirkin, Gene Kelly ve Frank Sinatra'lı denizci komedisi On the Town/Denizciler Geliyor ve Walt Disney çizgi filmleri Fantasia, Pinocchio/Pinokyo ve Dumbo.
The importance of the 50's lies for me in French New Wave and the beginning of Godard's carrier. The film I saw this decade includes the New Wave films A Bout de Souffle, Alain Resnais dealing with Nazis Nuit and Bruillard and another face-off with the 2nd World War Hiroshima Mon Amour. The American cinema was thriving in this decades with big studio movies, like my favorites Gigi with the calm beauty of Leslie Caron, Barefoot Contessa, Roman Holiday and Singin' in the Rain, but also Sunset Boulevard, An American in Paris and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. The films I watched continue with a Tati comedy Mon Oncle, the angry men of Britain 12 Angry Men, those of the two biggest stars of the era; Marilyn Monroe's Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, Some Like it Hot and the film that created James Dean's short but fabulous career Rebel Without a Cause, Kurosawa's Seven Samurai and Rear Window, The Man Who Knew Too Much, The Wrong Men of Hitchcock.
1950'lerin benim için en önemli yanı, Fransız Yeni Dalga'nın ve dolayısıyla Godard'ın ortaya çıkışı, bu yılda Yeni Dalga akımından A Bout de Souffle/Serseri Aşıklar, Alain Resnais'nin Nazilerle hesaplaşması Nuit et Brouillard/Gece ve Sis'i ve Hiroshima Mon Amour/ Hiroşima Sevgilim bu on yılın en önemli sanat filmleri. Benim en sevdiğim filmler arasında olan güzelim Leslie Caron'lı Gigi, Barefoot Contessa/ Çıplak Ayaklı Kontes, Roman Holiday/Roma Tatili ve Singin' in the Rain/Yağmur Altında'nın yanı sıra, dönemin keyifli stüdyo filmleri Sunset Boulevard/ Sunset Bulvarı, An American in Paris/ Paris'te Bir Amerikalı, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers/Yedi Kardeşe Yedi Gelin. Bunun yanında Tati komedisi Mon Oncle/Amcam ve İngiliz'in kızgın adamları 12 Angry Men/ 12 Kızgın Adam, dönemin iki starı Marilyn Monroe'dan Gentlemen Prefer Blondes/Erkekler Sarışınları Sever ve Some Like it Hot/Bazıları Sıcak Sever ve James Dean'li Rebel Without a Cause/Asi Gençlik, Kurosawa'nın Seven Samurai/Yedi Samuray'ı, ve Hitchcock'un Rear Window/Arka Pencere, The Man Who Knew Too Much/Çok Şey Bilen Adam ve The Wrong Man/Lekeli Adam'ı, dönemin izlenmesi gereken filmlerinden.
The 60's are the decade of the thrillers as much as the art films. While French New Wave continues with my favorites of Godard Vivre Sa Vie, Pierrot le Fou, Week-end and Truffaut's Jules et Jim, this decade has a high importance for Fellini with 8 1/2 and Guiletta degli Spiriti/Juliet of the Spirits. Also Antonioni's Blow-up, his long lost film The Passenger and Chris Marker's La Jetée are the other famous art films. But for me, the best films of this decade are, without any hesitation or doubt, Ingmar Bergman's Persona and Luis Bunuel's Belle Du Jour.
1960-1970'ler sanat filmleri kadar bilimkurgu filmlerinin de on yılıdır. Fransız Yeni Dalgası Godard'ın en sevdiğim filmleri Vivre Sa Vie/Hayatı Yaşamak, Pierrot le Fou/Çılgın Pierrot ve Week-end/Hafta Sonu ve Truffaut'nun Jules et Jim/Jules ve Jim'iyle devam ederken, bu on yıl Fellini için de çok üretken geçer; 8 1/2 ve Juliet of the Spirits. Aynı zamanda Antonioni'den Blow-up ve The Passenger ve Chris Marker'dan La Jetée de dönemin önemli sanat filmlerindendir, ama benim için bu yılın en önemli filmleri hiç tartışmasız Ingmar Bergman'ın Persona'sı ve Luis Bunuel'in Belle de Jour/Gündüz Güzeli'dir.
Other directors who put their stamps in this decade are Hitchcock with Psycho, The Birds and Marnie and Stanley Kubrick with the absurd politic satire of the nuclear era Dr. Strangelove or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb and 2001 A Space Odyssey. The intelligent sci-fi Planet of the Apes, classics of the era Breakfast at Tiffany's, Bonnie and Clyde, Goldfinger and Rosemary's Baby are the other films who made the list for the 60's.
Bu on yıla damgasını vuran diğer isimler ise Psycho/Sapık, The Birds/Kuşlar ve Marnie ile Alfred Hitchcock ve absürd politik hicvi Dr. Strangelove or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb/ Garip Doktor ve uzay macerası 2001 A Space Odyssey/ 2001 Uzay Yolu Macerası ile Stanley Kubrick'tir. Bunun yanısıra bilimkurgu olarak Planet of the Apes/ Maymunlar Cehennemi, dönemin unutulmaz klasikleri Breakfast at Tiffany's/Tiffany'de Kahvaltı, Bonnie and Clyde/Bonnie ve Clyde, Goldfinger/Altınparmak ve Rosemary's Baby/Rosemary'nin Bebeği dönemin diğer önemli filmleri.
The list grows bigger when we're closer to our times of course. I think the highlight of 70's-80's is the boom in horror and suspense films. The Exorcist, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Don't Look Now, Jaws, Carrie, The Hills Have Eyes, Halloween and Alien. Besides those, this was the decade when we met the sensational trilogies Star Wars and Godfather.
The Exorcist/Şeytan, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre/Teksas Katliamı, Don't Look Now/Büyü, Jaws, Carrie, The Hills Have Eyes/Tepenin Gözleri, Halloween/Yabancı ve Alien/Yaratık. Bunun yanında on yıla damgasını vuran Star Wars/Yıldız Savaşları ve Godfather/Baba serisiyle de bu on yılda tanıştık.
The masterpieces of the art scene in this decade are Truffaut's La Nuit Américaine, Passolini's Salo o le 120 Giornate di Sodoma/ Salo or the 120 Days of Sodom and Fellini's Amarcord. For me, the most important film of this decade is Maysles Brothers Rolling Stones documentary Gimme Shelter. We must also name Polanski's Chinatown, Kubrick's Barry Lyndon and Clockwork Orange, Scorcese's Taxi Driver and One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and Monty Python as the other important movies of the era.
Sanat filmlerine gelirsek, Truffaut'dan La Nuit Américaine/Amerikan Gecesi, Passolini'nin Salo o le 120 Giornate di Sodoma/ Salo ya da Sodom'un 120 Günü ve Fellini'nin Amarcord'u. Benim için bu on yılın en önemli filmlerinden biri ise Maysles Kardeşler'in Rolling Stones belgeseli Gimme Shelter'dır. Polanski'nin Chinatown/Çin Mahallesi, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest/Guguk Kuşu, Monty Python, Kubrick'in Barry Lyndon'ı ile Clockwork Orange/Otomatik Portakal'ı ve Scorcese'nin Taxi Driver/Taksi Şoförü dönemin diğer önemli filmlerindendir.
To tell you the truth, 80's are not my favorite decade, neither it was the cinema's favorite. In the 80's blockbusters invaded the market. Nevertheless, we must name a couple of action-filled flics Scorcese's Raging Bull and Ridley Scott's Blade Runner and Spielberg's E.T. and Poltergeist. Paris, Texas by Wim Wenders is the hidden gem of the 80's. Plus, the first Turkish film enters the list; Yılmaz Güney's The Road. Best of the blockbusters are as follows; Nightmare on the Elm Street and my favorite Ghostbusters.
If we must continue with the 80's, we find more blockbusters; Batman, Die Hard, Naked Gun, Back to the Future. We had some good films thoughİ David Lynch's Blue Velvet, Woody Allen's The Purple Rose of Cairo (my favorite from the 80's) and Almadovar's Women on the Verge of a Breakdown also appeared in this decade. The biggest hit of the era were When Harry Met Sally, Top Gun and Goodfellas.
80'lere devam ettiğimizde karşımıza yine Blockbuster'lardan Batman, Die Hard/Zor Ölüm, Naked Gun/Çıplak Silah ve Back to the Future/Geleceğe Dönüş geliyor. Bunların yanında David Lynch'in Blue Velvet/Mavi Kadife'si, Woody Allen'ın Purple Rose of Cairo/Kahire'nin Mor Gülü filmi (80'lerin favorisi) ve Almodovar'ın Women on the Verge of a Breakdown/Sinir Krizi Eşiğindeki Kadınlar'ı gibi daha ciddi filmler var. Dönemin en çok tutan filmleri ise, romantik komedi When Harry Met Sally/Harry Sally'le Tanışınca, Top Gun ve Goodfellas.
I find 90's to be such a better decade than the 80's. First, the cults Natural Born Killers and Tarantino's Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs were born in this decade. With them, we have Dances With the Wolves, Pretty Woman, Thelma&Louise, Jurassic Park and Dracula. The most special films of the decades were Kieslowski's Trois Couleurs/Three Colors, Forrest Gump, Shawshank Redemption and Spielberg's Schindler's List.
The movie that puts his signature on this era was without a question Braveheart. And Trainspotting was the cult sensation of the decade. Other unforgettable films of the era were Underground with whom the world met Kusturica, The English Patient and Shine. The signature films of the era, which I'm sure we all love, were the dark action pictures Strange Days and Seven. Also the Scream franchise, whose 4th addition was recently on the theaters signifies the soul of the era.
I saved the best for last. The highlights of the decades were; Matrix, The Sixth Sense, Eyes Wide Shut, Fight Club and Pi. We must also remember the biggest hit on the box-office Titanic and Saving Private Ryan. The film that was talked more about its marketing strategy rather than the film itself The Blair Witch Project and Run Lola Run also must not be forgotten. Besides the epics Braveheart, The English Patient and Titanic, 90's were mostly about blockbuster comedies, dark and futuristic actions and again horror/suspense movies.
Matrix, The Sixth Sense/Altıncı His, Kubrick'in son filmi Eyes Wide Shut/Gözleri Tamamen Kapalı, Fight Club ve Pi dönemin unutulmaz kült filmlerinden.
To tell you the truth, I have a hard time spotting trends in the 21st century cinema. Fantastic book adaptations Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter, romantic comedies that grew like weeds, action, horror and art films... In short, the last decade of the cinema has everything we can think of.
My favorites from the first part are Le Fabouleux Destin D'Amélie Poulain, Requiem for a Dream, Amores Perros, Memento and Mulholland Dr. We also have the eternal hits of the box-office Moulin Rouge! and Gladiator.
Açıkçası 2000'li yıllarda herhangi bir trend bulmakta zorlanıyorum. Lord of the Rings ve Harry Potter gibi fantastik fimler, romantik komediler, macera ve korku filmleri ve sanat filmleri... Kısacası geçtiğimiz 10 yılda sinemaya dair her şey var.
İlk bölümden favorilerim Le Fabouleux Destin D'Amélie Poulain/Amélie, Requiem for a Dream, Amores Perros, Memento ve Mulholland Dr. Bunların yanında Moulin Rouge! ve Gladiator/Gladyatör dönemin unutulmaz gişe rekortmenleri.
My favorite in this section is without a doubt Goodbye Lenin. Alongside it, there are The Pianist, Chicago and Kill Bill. Also there were 2 Turkish films who made it to the list; Distant and Gegen die Wand/Head-On.
The decade when cinema is born. From this decade, I watched The Great Train Robbery and one of my favorite films of all times Un Voyage Dans la Lune/ A Trip to the Moon with its fantastic decors and extraordinary (!) special effects.
Sinemanın doğduğu yıl... Bu on yılda, The Great Train Robbery/ Büyük Tren Soygunu ve en sevdiğim filmlerden biri olan, aya seyahati fantastik dekorlar ve muhteşem (!) efektlerle veren film Un Voyage Dans la Lune/ Aya Seyahat var.
Most important films of the 40's include Citizen Kane of the genius Orson Welles, Rossellini's Roma, Citta Aperta/ Rome, Open City and Kurosawa's Rashomon. The unforgettable classics of the era are Gilda, Casablanca, The Postman Always Rings Twice and It's a Wonderful Life. The darker side of cinema of the 40's are Hitchcock's Rebecca and the birth of film noir with Double Indemnity. Besides these classics, the films I watched this decade are; Beauty and the Beast, the sailor comedy with Gene Kelly and Frank Sinatra On the Town and Disney animations Fantasia, Pinocchio and Dumbo.
Again, we met with the sci-fi Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Rocky, Woody Allen's Annie Hall and David Lynch's Eraserhead in this decase. The decade also witness some fun musicals; Grease and Cabaret.
Yine bilimkurgu filmlerinden Close Encounters of the Third Kind/ Tehlikeli İlişkiler, Rocky, Woody Allen'ın Annie Hall'ı ve David Lynch'in Eraserhead'i de bu on yılda görme zevkine kavuştuk.

Son bölümde benim favorilerim Oscar ödüllü The Life of Others/Başkalarının Hayatları ve Slumdog Millinaire. Çok tanınmayan fütüristik distopya filmi Children of Men de izlenmesi gereken bir film.
Finally, the end of this long long list. I intent to watch more films from '1001 Movies' and post them here. We'll see how much more I will see by the end of this year.

Harry Potter and the first 3-D Experience
*does not contain spoilers*
*spoiler içermez*
An era closed for me as I saw the last Harry Potter film and I finally did see a film in 3-D that I despised for so long. Here are my feelings about the movie and the 3-D:
1. This 3-D thingy is not for the people with eye problems. My mom had to put the 3-D glass on her regular glasses and her nose is pierced after the movie and I saw the whole film blurred (I need to wear glasses but I don't and I normally don't see the world blurred). My eyes constantly tried to focus on something, but had no luck there.
2. People keeps telling that this 3-D stuff improved a lot in the last years, but it wasn't different from the short movie I saw in Disneyland in 1998, at the end not that impressive really. I admit that the scenes when somethings fly towards the camera are interesting, but for the rest of the movie, the depth-of-field doesn't make up for the artificial feeling of 3-D.
3. Apparently, Harry my dear has chest hair now!
3. Harry'ciğim canımın göğüs kılları çıkmış, bu filmde bunu görmüş olduk.
4. And Neville my darling, who was a funny looking fat little boy grew up to be quite handsome.
4. Neville'ciğim diğer canım küçük sümsük çocuktan yakışıklı bir gence dönüşmüş, çok şeker olmuş (sübyancı mode-on).
5. Snape who I used to see as quite charismatic looks a bit like a transvestite with tons of plastic surgery and make-up.
5. Benim bir zamanlar çok karizmatik bulduğum Snape, siyah göz farı sürmüş Fatih Ürek'e dönmüş.
6. The end of the movie was really funny. 15 going on 40 if you know what I mean:d
6. Filmin sonu çok kolpaydı ya, 15 going 40:D
7. Oh how fast do they grow up, I feel old looking at them.
7. Bu çocuklar ne büyüdü, yaşlandık bea.

Do It For Johnny!
You may wonder why I didn't write to the blog for such a longtime, well my idiot of a country's silliest court decided to ban blogger because some blogs make copyrights infringement. Anywho, all is past now and I'm baaaaaaccccccccckkkkk!
Bloguma kavuştum mu nedir, içimde bir sevinç, bir sevinç... Gerçi araya sansürler, dijiler girdi soğudum ama, ısınırım zağar dedim oturdum yazmaya.
I watched 'Do it For Johnny' yesterday and I must say that it was the most entertaining, funniest film I watched for a long time. The film is a documentary of a couple of young indie filmmaker wannabes trying to reach Johnny Depp a script!
'Do it For Johnny!'yi dün izledim ve şunu söylemeliyim ki uzun zamandır izlediğim en eğlenceli, en ilginç belgesel ve filmdi. Filmimiz, tamamen bağımsız yani çulsuz sinemacı adayı bir grup gencin senaryolarını Johnny Depp'e ulaştırmaya çalışmalarını anlatan bir belgesel!
Great idea, isn't it? The film is also great, first the gang buys a torn away van (all the money comes from the director's fiancee's credit cards!) then they made Scott Baxendale do a special guitar for Johnny, put their script in the back of the guitar and go on a crazy road trip across U.S.A. It's known that Johnny is a sweet man out of complexes who respects indies, and a musician, plus the film is a biopic of Scott Baxendale's life, so they thought that if Johnny sees the script all will be well.
But how? First, as you may know, our little Johnny lives with her Vanessa Paradis and the children in the South of France and he's about to shoot 'The Pirates of Caribbean' 2 and 3. And of course Johnny is pretty hard to meet... They said that we can either reach Johnny from the company that represents him our the company he and his sister owns or through Robert Rodriguez. But, Rodriguez isn't a guy who hangs out in Starbucks on Sunset Boulevard either, he is indie all right, but a pretty known indie.
What happens, you say... 2,5 years and thousands of kilometers later, they finally found Johnny somewhere and gave him the guitar. Johnny is being his sweet sympathetic self as always, but he simply cannot accept a script that doesn't come from his agency. He told them to send it to the agency and that he'll tell them to accept it. The script is sent and the sister is talked with, but a year later, the script still doesn't reach Johnny. And the agency wrote a review about how a masterpiece the script is and how well the characters are and blah and blah and blah...
At the end, the gang gives away on reaching Johnny and finished the documentary, in fact Johnny already hears somethings about the gang before he met them, but with Tim Burton and Disney in line, our gang doesn't stand a chance. If you ask what this experiment tells about indies, being outrageous is good and well but it cannot compete with a million dollars that big studios offer...
By the way, the film's opening sequence is the best!
Bu arada filmin başlangıç jeneriği muhteşem?

83rd Oscar Awards-The Winners
There was no surprise in the awards this year, I'm very glad that Nathalie Portman got the 'Best Actress' award, but I would love to see Helena Bonham Carter to also have one. Apparently the propaganda to eliminate 'The King's Speech's chance by accusing the film as a story of a anti-semitist king is failed. There are a lot of politics in the Academy Awards anyway, no need to add new-ones to the list.
This year, the most number of awards went to 'The King's Speech' and Inception with 4 awards each, 'The Social Network' ran second by 3 awards and 'The Fighter', 'Toy Story 3' and 'Alice in Wonderland' won 2 awards each. Now, let's look at who won:
